Pancakes and Pajamas

Do you have a favorite time of the week? For me, it used to be early evening on a Saturday. I have fond memories in college of reconvening with my dorm mates at that time, finally awake from naps or back from whatever we were doing during the day, and starting to plan our wild Saturday nights. The best was when we were all just hanging out, finishing dinner, watching TV, and suddenly someone would get a text or Facebook message (yes, this was 2005) with an invite to a party. We’d all get so excited!

Well, now nearly 10 years later, Saturday mornings are one of my favorite times of the week. I slept well the night before, and am waking up for a workout class or letting myself sleep in. The whole weekend is ahead of me and I have a great day planned – whether it’s doing something in the city with Steve or having a TV marathon on the couch. I also look forward to Saturday mornings because I have time to treat myself to a yummy breakfast, as you see here. While these photos were taken on Saturday, as you can probably guess, I did not wake up like this. More on that later.

The days of going out late and staying out even later are pretty far behind me, save for some special nights. I’m totally adulting now that I wear matching flamingo pajamas while eating pancakes over my marble pastry slab. (Thanks, wedding registry.) But does it count as being a grown up if the pjs are less than $20? Perhaps it does, since it means I’m being responsible with my money.
