Get Out of the House, But Stay Inside!

Things to Do in ChicagoWaiting until it’s warm enough that I can be on that cruise!

The first day of spring has arrived but as we midwesterners know, that doesn’t mean anything to Mother Nature. Sure we’re ready to enjoy the outdoors and all Chicago has to offer in warmer weather, but she hasn’t quite decided to give up on winter yet. I can’t lie – I’m looking forward to walking around without wind whipping at my face and freezing. But that doesn’t mean I’m going to stay holed up inside until then. If you’re starting to feel like me, ready to get out of the house but not necessarily outside, today’s blog post is for you. I’ve rounded up some things to do in Chicago that will help time pass until the weather matches the season. Keep reading for a list for all ages!

Things to Do in Chicago

SNL: The Experience. Talk about an exhibit for everyone. Whether you go with your parents who’ve been watching SNL since it’s inception, or someone who’s just discovered show clips via YouTube, the exhibit SNL: The Experience at the Museum of Broadcast Communications will keep everyone’s attention. It walks people through what a week of making the show looks like, and has lots of great sets, props and costumes to see up close. I even got to sit on the Wayne’s World couch and see the D**k in the Box costumes! If that wasn’t worth the money, I don’t know what is.

Blue Man Group. I was first introduced to the Blue Man Group during college. I was on a class trip in Chicago, and this was a pre-planned activity for our group. I had no idea what to expect during the show, but wow, did it exceed anything I could have conjured up! I was excited to return to a show earlier this year. It’s hard to put into words what it’s about, but I love how silly yet smart the act is. It’s perfect for any age and something I think everyone should enjoy at least once! From now until April 20, Chicagoans can take advantage of discounted rates on tickets. For more information and to purchase discounted tickets, visit blueman.com/606.

Things to Do in Chicago

Bunny Slope. This one you need a group for, and they can’t be shy about partying in their swimsuits! When Steve asked for a 30th birthday party at Bunny Slope in the Acme Hotel I was skeptical. It sounds sketchy…a hot tub in a hotel’s basement…but it turned out to be so much fun! You can rent the hot tub for private parties and it comes with a private bar. We had a party of 12 people, which was perfect for the hot tub’s size and to be served by the bartender. My only complaint is that the two hours we rented flew by too quickly!

Sugar Factory Chicago

The Sugar Factory. It wouldn’t be a Chicago bucket list without one drinking event on here, now would it? This is a twist of the old neighborhood bar, though. I’ve gone to the Sugar Factory in River North a few times. Once for a blog event where we got to taste everything – and I mean everything – on the menu. I thought it was so fun that I hosted my work birthday party there. Yes, my 30th birthday party was at the Sugar Factory! Anything you order on the menu has some sort of twist, like these smoking fishbowls, so it’s definitely a fun place to go and prepare to be wowed. Also, a little tipsy. 🙂

Sugar Factory ChicagoCheers! Here’s to finishing this rest of the cold Chicago weather out with fun!

I just went to the Bunny Slope for my friend’s birthday! I was so fun, too! I really want to take my husband to see Blue Man Group. Hopefully we will start having better weather in Chicago!
