San Francisco Surprise

SheIn Little Black Dress

When I moved to San Francisco nearly two months ago, I had very few expectations. In fact, if anything, I was nervous about whether it’d be a fit. The West Coast was never my dream, it was Steve’s. From my visits ahead of the move, San Francisco felt nice but was it my kind of city?

I won’t say anything definite about the city, but I will say I think I’m in my honeymoon phase with it. Sure, the hills are dreadful and prices of everything are too high. (I paid $8.25 for a breakfast bar from a convenience store. MORE THAN EIGHT DOLLARS!) But the weather has been amazing, and I never thought I’d care that much! Being born and raised in the Midwest, I’m actually a fan of chilly weather. Remember last year during the Polar Vortex? A day or two of below freezing temps didn’t bother me! I never imagined how much a warmer fall would help improve my mood. Even now with it being dark out earlier, it’s at least warm enough that you’re OK with being outside after the sun set.

Another thing I love about this city is its vibrant plant life. The trees are still full of greenery, flowers are in bloom, and people here don’t mess around with their indoor plants. That’s a big difference from Chicago – the indoor plants scene! It feels like everyone is propagating something and great plant parents. Steve and I even joined in on the fun by buying a few plants off of Facebook. Fingers crossed I follow directions and these things stay alive!

And now, onto this outfit. On the subject of it being warmer here, I love that I can stretch the no-tights time longer! I recently had a call with a Brownie for a Girl Scouts badge she working on about fashion. (Her mom’s my former boss and the girl had to interview someone so we got connected!) The Brownie asked me questions about my style and opened with “What’s your favorite outfit?” I said the first thing that came to mind, which was a black dress with floral mesh sleeves and polka dot heels. It was top of mind because I’d just taken these photos and loved how they turned out! I think you can’t go wrong with a SheIn little black dress – especially when it’s accompanied by a pop of color and pattern. You can shop my dress here and get 15% with my code “4slyj.”

I can’t believe its been 2 months already!! I’m ready for this phase to be over and for you and Steve to come back to Chicago!! I miss you!

But happy to hear you are enjoying the weather! But $8 for a bar, that is simply crazy! They are robbing you!
