One Shirt Three Ways

When everyone goes crazy for the #NSale in the summer, I gotta say, I’m a bad blogger and always resist at first. To start, I’m not typically a Nordstrom shopper so it’s not like I’ve been waiting around for items I know are in stock to go on sale. Second, I usually end up disappointed by what’s available to buy. Sure, there are some go-to items like my favorite hair products that I pick up every year during the sale. But otherwise, I might keep just one or two other things out of the huge orders I place, hoping something will be the sale gem! This year, I was pleasantly surprised when a 1901 skirt and Halogen striped shirt came in my order and were the perfect fit. Neither was especially exciting, but for about 40% off they both have been worth it and are on constant rotation in my outfits. Today I’m sharing the Halogen striped shirt three ways. Unfortunately this exact shirt isn’t available anymore, but Halogen makes several other affordable similar striped shirts that you could purchase to easily recreate one of these outfits.

Let’s start with the striped shirt for work. I love the high neck because it’s modest and can be layered multiple ways, as you see in this post. It also adds a little fun to an otherwise all-black outfit. The shirt itself, as I’m guessing Halogen shirts are, is really comfortable and stretchy so I don’t mind wearing it all day at my desk. I wore this outfit to a work conference, but I’ve also worn this exact top half of the outfit to my business casual office with jeans.

Next is a favorite outfit from this fall. I recently visited the Michigan Upper Peninsula for a wedding and guests were instructed to wear neutrals. We also needed to be comfortable at the outdoor ceremony that required a little bit of hiking. These were tough requirements for me, who loves bright colors and dresses. I searched for the correct-fitting jumpsuit and settled on this, although on its own it was underwhelming. The day-of the wedding I decided that layering this striped shirt underneath would help keep me warm. I ended up loving the look!

Finally, my pattern mixing look. I wore this to work but also just for a day of sightseeing in the UP. It’s a little out of my comfort zone, but I rented the skirt from Rent the Runway so decided to have a little fun with it. I can’t say enough about how comfortable the Halogen shirt is, and + an elastic waist skirt it was the perfect travel outfit.

I highly recommend investing in a cute striped shirt if there’s not already one hanging in your closet. As you can see, it’s worth the very minimal investment!
