Spring Transition

We’re at that point in the year where I think we’re all sick of wearing our winter clothes. Sure, I will be sad to say goodbye to the turtleneck trend of this winter and some of the fun tights I own, but I know I’ll see them again soon enough (Chicago summers are fun but too short!). I also recently went on a minor shopping spree to update some of spring and summer clothing and cannot wait to pull it out of the closet! In fact, I just couldn’t wait any longer and incorporated my new white jeans in the perfect transitional outfit.

I bought these white jeans from Express, where I also got the leather jacket I’m wearing. The store was a stop on the above mentioned shopping spree. I had only gone in because everything was 40% off for a few days and I was looking for an inexpensive bodysuit. (Bodysuits are another trend I can’t wait to wear this summer!) I ended up coming out with a lot more than I had expected. A lot of people put Express in the “going out” apparel bucket, I know, but after shopping there for years and even working there for a short stint, I can attest that the store has a lot more to offer than sequined dresses and silky tops. For example, a lot of my work wardrobe comes from there because they have closet staples like a black pencil skirt, but also unexpected professional pieces like a red blazer (worn here).

Just like with any store, I’d suggest waiting for sales if you want to get the most from Express. There are often coupons available to get money off of your purchase, or you can wait until the semi-annual sale the store holds at the end of each season. That’s where I often get outerwear at reasonable prices or treat myself to less practical items such as a strapless jumpsuit. And if you, like me, are looking toward spring or summer fashion already, I’d definitely check out Express dress options. There are so many festival options!
