Austin Style

What to wear in Austin

Whenever I’m going to a new city with a winter climate different than Chicago’s I am thrown for a loop. What to wear in Chicago winter? Easy. A coat, scarf, gloves, hat and boots. What to wear in Austin in February? That one stumped me. My boyfriend’s and my trip last month was my first time going to the city, known to be cool yet weird, and the days were going to heat up to 80 degrees. Did I pack dresses and sandals because I’d be walking outside, or did I pack boots and a faux-cowgirl hat because I was going to Texas? I had no idea. I actually Googled “What to wear in Austin.” That was no help because I wasn’t going to SXSW like all of the fashion blogs assumed.

Hat – similar {save | splurge} | Jacket – very similar | Boots – very similar | Clarins – Joli Rouge in Soft Plum

Finally I decided on something a little hip, that I could layer, and oh yeah, also coordinated with the new hat I’d bought for my trip to the south (yee-haw). I wore this outfit to an outdoor night concert, after which we got street food and people watched on Dirty Sixth. (More on that later this week.) It proved to be the perfect outfit to transition from dusk to dark.

Check back later this week to hear less about what I wore and more about what we did!
