The 13 Books I Read in 2019

When I was a kid, I was a vivacious reader. It was so much easier with fewer distractions, of course. No needing to log on to work emails after hours or Instagram calling my name to scroll it in bed. I have kept up my reading as an adult, but at times the hobby fell to the wayside as technology got in the way. In 2017, that was no problem. I finished 22 books. Then 2018 rolled around I finished…9. 🙁

When 2019 started, I decided I wanted to make reading a priority again to continue to expand my horizons and continue to keep my mind sharp. I set the goal of one book per month. If I had all of the time in the world and no bedtime (I’m a night owl), I could definitely do more than one book in 30 days. But, I wanted to start with 12 a year to make sure reading at least stayed on my list of things to do.

In 2019, I continued with my love of psychological thriller novels. The genre has me hooked with the unexpected twists and turns and I love that the books often feature female leads. However, I’m starting to feel as if I’ve plowed through all of the 5 star psychological thrillers and need to branch. My goal in 2020 is to again read at least one book per month, so please, leave any recommendations in the comments!

Great idea to set a one book per month goal! I’m going to try that.
