It’s the holiday season, which means for a lot of us decor EVERYWHERE! For some people this means purchasing the goodies at Target, or even hiring a decorator. For some reason, for me the holiday season is when my DIY side comes out. It might trace back to childhood, when we’d do all sorts of craft projects with my mom around the holidays including cinnamon applesauce ornaments and Popsicle stick Santas. Now I like to carry this on in adulthood because I love admiring my finished Christmas crafts the whole holiday season.

This is by far the easiest DIY. Once Halloween ended, I wasn’t ready to say goodbye to my pumpkins, which happened to be traditional holiday colors. To help them fit in with all the new decor I was putting out I used pins, ribbon and DIY ornaments. Easy peasy.

Remember the Debi Lilly holiday party I attended last year? She taught us great tips for floral arrangements that can make anyone look like they’re professionals. The best was “bunching,” which makes it so you don’t have to worry about what flowers go where. Instead, pick a few varieties that coordinate and then “bunch” them next to each other in a vase.

What to do with any leftover flowers from those arrangements? I love these floral rings! They’ve started to be a trend in weddings, and I wanted to use them in my holiday decor. I also made a few extra for hostess gifts. Here’s a step-by-step process to make your own.

This last DIY has now been done two years in a row. Last year I was inspired by the move Little Women to do an old-fashioned Christmas tree using types of materials people might have had back then. This includes dried fruit, florals, spices, ribbon and twine. I hot glued the pieces together and hung them on my tree. I kept my favorites in a Tupperware and put them out again this year because I loved the look so much.

While I wish I had time for a new DIY every day for the holidays, there are all of the stresses of this season as well as normal responsibilities. So please, do one of these for me!
