Younger TV Fashion for Less

younger tv fashion

I’ve already written on here why Younger TV on TV Land deserves your attention. I’ve also discussed a little bit how one of the shows main characters, Kelsey played by Hilary Duff, has inspired my style choices. But what I haven’t talked a lot about was my disappointment when I started searching for the show’s costumes in real life and discovered Younger TV fashion will never be hanging in my closet without me going broke! I was hoping the show would mix high-low pieces because, after all, these are women working in book publishing in their 20s. However, the series was created by Darren Star and the costumes are designed by Patricia Field, so of course it more closely aligns with Sex and the City fashion that what the characters could afford if it were the real world.

So for the time being (and likely the rest of my life) I won’t be able to afford the actual clothes worn on the show, but I can pull inspiration from them. I’ve rounded up some look-a-likes and fashions at lower price points that you could still imagine the main characters in.

  • I love that kimonos continue to have a moment, and you can see on Kelsey that they can be worn for work or play! Choose one made out of thick fabric and belt it over a dress or pants for a formal look.
  • I admire Diana for her brave accessorizing, but let’s be serious, I can’t pull off her looks. Instead, I opt for a pendant necklace that’s more subdued than what’s she’s wearing.
  • Diana knows the power of a good blazer, but I for one can’t afford her Versace one 🙁 Luckily, if red’s your color here’s one for less than $30.
  • Liza looks so fresh in her Alexander McQueen pink tweed mini dress, but I don’t even want to get into what it costs! I’ll go for this tweed mini with an adorable bow instead.
  • The characters on this show seem to love a good pussy bow, Kelsey included. I admit I do too, and this floral top’s $9 price tag is pretty appealing.
  • What’s younger and fresher than Lauren’s floral mini by Miu Miu? I love this one in white for $20.
  • At times Liza’s outfits seem to be waaaaay young to compensate for her real age, but here she is wearing an Alexis wrap dress that looks good on women of all ages. How about a similar one for less than $25?
  • Liza’s fringed sleeveless dress from the Glamour awards was so flattering, I was really drawn to the pink color. This halter-styled maxi dress married two beautiful pinks for a similar look.
  • TSwift brought back the rainbow stripe this year and Liza seemed to follow suit at a party. Unfortunately, I have no place to go in a sequined Balmain dress, so this rainbow circle skirt is a much better fit for my closet!
  • Whether it’s a half moon clip, braid serving as a headband, or a turban, Kelsey often has something cool going on with her long blonde locks. I’m on board with any hair accessories that add some color to an outfit.
