How to Make Your Mani Last

Imagine having a friend with nearly every nail polish color and manicure trick under the sun. That was my college roommate Amanda, and she was always nice enough to share (both the polish and her tips). I used to blog with Amanda, too, so I asked her if she’d like to return to the blogging world today for a #ManiMonday guest post. Read her tips below on how to combat chipped nails and make your mani last a few extra days.

Make your manicure last

White Polish – Julep

1. Glittery Tips Manicure. This is my absolute favorite way to cover up chipped nails – just add glitter. If you aren’t familiar with OPI’s Glitter Off base coat, get familiar with it. It peels off so you don’t have to spend hours scraping glitter off of your nails, which is the absolute worst. Paint a layer of the Glitter Off (or other base coat) and sprinkle your favorite glitter on top. Set with a topcoat.

2. Brushstrokes Manicure. For this you’ll need a thin nail art brush and a selection of your favorite colors. Drop a bit of each color onto a piece of scotch tape and use the nail art brush to paint thin vertical stripes. I think using one glitter nail polish breaks up the colors nicely. 3. 50/50 Manicure. You’ll need scotch tape and a coordinating color for this easy and bold manicure. Tape a diagonal line across the dry (very dry! that’s important!) chipped manicure, and paint the top of the nail. Remove the tape while the polish is still wet to ensure you get a straight line. 4. Updated French Manicure. This is probably the easiest way to combat a chipped manicure – all it takes is a quick swipe of color across the tip of the nail. While I’m not a huge fan of traditional french manicures, I like to mix it up sometimes by using fun, unexpected colors. (Julep Martha)
