Archie and the Gang

Most of my life I’ve been a DIY Halloween costume gal. It started with my mom getting us kids ready for trick-or-treating through handmade costume ideas we chose from American Girl magazines. (Remember those days?) Beyond the magazine, we’d use old dress up clothes to get become the characters we wanted to be. The time I was Louisa May Alcott was a personal favorite, but try explaining that to the neighbors as I trick or treated! As I got older there were some costumes just too elaborate to recreate, like my favorite TV characters’ classic outfits. That’s why I was so excited to partner with TVStoreOnline.com this year to choose the perfect Riverdale Halloween costume. I got to transform myself into the girl with the iconic ponytail, Betty! And, even better, Steve agreed to be the Jughead to my Betty. Keep reading for a photo!

Remember when I talked about Steve’s and my guilty TV pleasures? Well, the CW show Riverdale (set on the Archie comic books) happens to be on our list of binge-watching goodness. Beyond us loving to hate on the cheesiness of the show (I mean really, how much can one Jughead brood), Archie and the gang actually has a special place in my heart. My parents introduced me to the comics as a kid and for several years editions always appeared in my Easter basket or Christmas stocking. I thought Veronica and Betty were so glamorous and cute…so of course I jumped at the chance to bring Betty to life with a Riverdale Halloween costume!

I was all ready to be Betty, but as you know if you watch Riverdale, none of the characters are ever alone. Luckily Steve pretty much owns Jughead’s entire wardrobe so he agreed to do a couples costume for our apartment complex’s Halloween party. I couldn’t resist some themed photos ahead of time. This Chicagoland drive-in is no Pop’s Chock’lit Shoppe, but hey, it’ll do.
