Winding Down

End of SummerI can’t even explain how relaxing and welcomed Labor Day weekend was. I babysat Saturday night and as I was sitting at the kitchen table playing board games with the kids, I thought, wow, this is one of the first times I’ve felt this relaxed all summer. True, the relaxed feeling may have been the inviting home, but more so I think it was just the calm of knowing all my traveling, errands and hectic schedule was over, for the most part.

This past summer was busy. Of course, it was filled with great trips and activities that I wanted to make, but looking back I can’t believe I did it all. It kicked off with a trip out West, which I couldn’t stop raving about. California was the kick off to the summer I wanted. From there came more trips (several to celebrate friends’ engagements and weddings), summer concerts, parties of all kinds and more.

There were definitely things on my summer bucket list that I didn’t get to do, but as busy as my summer was, I’m grateful several things did happen this summer. My boyfriend and I went sightseeing in more cities, an activity that always brings us together; I got back to reading and shared some favorites with you on Sincerely Reading; and I stayed in touch/visited with my friends, even welcoming one college bestie who moved to Chicago!

So with all that said, I’m sad to see summer go, but excited to welcome a slower-paced fall. And with the way Chicago’s mother nature has been acting, I may get just a few more days of summer yet, on my terms.
