I know everyone is always like, “Summer in the Chi is the best!” but as soon as fall hits, we’re singing a different tune. Suddenly, with the changing leaves and crisp air, fall is where it’s at. And you know, I have to agree. I love saying goodbye to the humidity, letting my hair down and throwing on a cute jacket with some booties or mules. It’s also fun to play with layers, like I did here with a knotted T-shirt to create a waist and add some drama.

Mixing fall and summer pieces is also a great way to help some of your favorite clothes transition from season to season. For example, I mixed a favorite summer skirt (last seen here) with a leather jacket so that it was appropriate for the new season. And guess what? I can even transition the skirt into winter by switching the knotted T-shirt out for a black turtleneck and adding a pair of tights. How’s that for staying power?
