Faking It…Your Lashes, That Is

One of the biggest pieces of advice I always share with friends who are doing their own makeup for big events is to purchase a set of false lashes – and test them out first! I’ve been using fake eyelashes for years; sometimes I’d wear them just for a special night out, it didn’t have to be a big occasion. I loved the confidence they gave me as a single girl to just bat my eyes at anyone. Haha, I’m kidding, but I did feel so confident knowing how my eyes with longer, fuller lashes were the focus of attention on my face. I enjoyed the feeling so much that I even researched eyelash extensions for my wedding. In the end, not having enough time to test out the extensions, I opted instead to go the route of false, one-use lashes. And you know what, I still loved how my DIY makeup turned out, especially my eyes!

My eyes were the focus of my wedding makeup application – hence false eyelashes

As happy as I was with my wedding makeup, I wish I’d known there are higher quality lashes out there than the $6 ones I bought from a beauty supply store. Those were fine, but since they were my go-to brand I always ended up having to trim the length to be less dramatic (and obviously fake). Trying to trim false eyelashes usually ends up about as well as trying to trim your own bangs does. The lashes also came with a tube of glue that dried up after one use. There went my $6 down the drain after about just 1 or 2 wears.

I had actually researched mink eyelash extensions, so when I received an email with an offer to try out ESQIDO mink lashes I was instantly intrigued. Was there a better option out there to send people toward when they ask about DIY makeup? In fact, there is! Esqido let me choose my pair of lashes and I went with a best seller: Little Black Lash. Five stars and 138 reviews? I figured I couldn’t be steered wrong. (Plus, they offered me an Esqido coupon code for readers!)

The Esqido false eyelashes come in a beautiful rose gold package with – the best part – ESQIDO eyelash glue in a reusable applicator similar to a lip gloss tube.  The lashes were some of the easiest I ever applied and they stuck immediately. They stayed on, too, even though I was walking around the windy city all day. I know they’ll be my next go-to accessory for a special event or big night out. And think about how I’ll save money with truly reusable false lashes – no more one and done!

Despite how easy these lashes are to apply, my biggest advice is to practice before the night of your big event! There’s nothing like nerves or feeling rushed to mess up a perfectly good eye game.

I can’t get a hold of fake eyelashes, I’m sure it takes practice. I’ve tried them for different outfits but end up not using them. I might try them, do some practicing!
