One thing that’s actually really hard for my boyfriend and I to do is relax together. We both have pretty full daily agendas and don’t live in the same neighborhood. So to spend any QT together it means actually carving out an evening or day. Which is what we did this past weekend with only one thing on our agenda – to pop over by this new mural and get some photos of me in front of it. Quick, right? Nope.
As soon after we arrived at the mural several other people came by via car, foot or a motorcycle. (The motorcyclist parked his ride in front of the mural and grabbed a pic. I bet that’s going to be a cool Instagram.) Each time the bf and I moved out of the way and waited until everyone got the shots they wanted, then we tried to swoop in. Unfortunately, we couldn’t move very fast. The camera kept refusing to take photos, and neither of us had any idea why.
In 80 degree weather and under the pressure to get it done, we started getting snippy with each other. I just wanted the few shots I’d asked for and then we could go. He was convinced I was directing him too much and blaming the camera malfunction on him. In the end, as soon as the camera started working, we took about 20 more photos before quickly leaving. On our walk home we cooled down (only emotionally), and were able to talk out why each of us became annoyed with the other. And would you believe it, Steve actually agreed to take my photos again this coming weekend. It just seems that first I have some camera-whispering to do.
