Make a Scene

Cat Footwear

You might not know this about me, but for two years after college I lived in a teeny rural town in southwest Michigan. I was editor of the weekly paper and got acquainted with farming quickly. I came to learn about what affects the price of milk, harvest season and yes, even a little bit about agriculture equipment like that from Caterpillar. So imagine my surprise when I received an email inviting me to a Cat Footwear event and, after researching it, learning the brand was the same owned by the farming equipment manufacturer.

However, I came to realize that while the two come from the same roots, Cat Footwear is certainly its own brand. The brunch was a part of the Make a Scene tour, events introducing people to the look of Cat Footwear. It’s obvious the shoes were made with the company’s beginnings in mind – practical and durable designs – but also with an eye for fashion and style. At the brunch we were able to browse current fall/winter 2016 styles as well as see what’s on deck for the spring/summer 2017. And wow, is Cat Footwear a far cry from the boots I was picturing!

You can see that some of the shoes still resemble work boots, but they’re something I could wear walking around the city to get through snow and rain, and then on nights out just to be comfortable yet stylish. The look of Cat Footwear boots work especially well now that the 90s have made a comeback.

Winter boots weren’t the only thing I was admiring at the brunch, held at Soho House. How adorable are these festival-inspired booties?

Oh, and as for the rest of the brunch experience, it was amazing! The entire day reflected Cat Footwear’s connection to the earth and making statement. It all tied back to Cat Footwear’s mission statement:

We are the earthmovers and shakers, finders, seekers, big thinkers, risk takers, we are generation makers.

So cool, I love to hear how brands change and evolve over the years! I remember Caterpillar all over the place in Iowa, they are really making their mark in women’s footwear!
