Blogger Goals

I was so excited to get unveil my new blog with the help of Theme Fashion and Anna Gehan. I have to say, the past week and a half have been a breeze…we’ll see how long that lasts. As you may know, I blogged for the past three years with my college roommate and picked up a lot of experience there as far as posting and schedules that work for me. I want to continue to improve that ability to balance blogging with my real life.

In an attempt to continue to blog in a way I think you will like, but also make sure a hobby doesn’t take over, I thought I’d share some goals for this site. If you’re a co-blogger or social media maven, let me know anythings that’s worked for you to balance blogging with everything else.

Do: Work ahead on content and find large chunks of time to knock out several posts at once.
Don’t: Beat myself up if I have to skip a day…or two. My goal is to post 3-4 times a week, but sometimes taking a vacation from this self-imposed responsibility is necessary.

Do: Work with my boyfriend to use his talents and insights to make my blog the best it can be. That includes calling upon his cameraman expertise to do a video every few months.
Don’t: Ignore my boyfriend in order to write posts or spend “just five more minutes” on the Internet.

Do: Use my social media accounts to help me create online relationships.
Don’t: Think there are any set rules to how often I have to use social media. I don’t need to feel pressured to post on Twitter 6-10 times per day, or post a photo everyday on Instagram.

Do: Take eye-catching, high-quality photographs to convey posts visually. This includes learning how to better use my camera to do this.
Don’t: Rework every photo until it’s perfect, or not post photos just because I might not look my skinniest in them. This is a personal blog, and I’m not perfect so it doesn’t need to be either.

Do: Continue to experiment with style and find – and share photos of – clothing that makes me feel like a million bucks.
Don’t: Look in my closet and think I have nothing new to blog. There should be dozens of ways to remix its contents for new posts.

I have many other goals and feature ideas that I’m excited to get going on. But for now I’m going to put down the computer. This is the last post I’m writing for the week and my allotted blogging time is almost up!

I love this post. Such helpful tips. I struggle with some these dilemmas myself. You are a good writer.
