Brunch Like a Queen in Chicago

Today I bring to you a special guest blogger, my foodie friend Marissa. She’s sharing some of the best Chicago brunch spots that’ll make our mouth water just reading about them. Pick you favorite from the list below and add the restaurants to you bucket list (or travel itinerary).

Brunch is a social gathering like no other. It’s a time for guys and girls around the city to gather, gossip, giggle and of course graze to the heart’s content. Here are a few suggestions of how to spend your brunch allowance.

For an Adventure

Bongo Room (5022 N Clark St): Four words – white chocolate pretzel pancakes. The unique twists on classic breakfast food will melt any (non)hipster’s heart at this Bucktown hot spot. Be prepared to wait on any given Saturday or Sunday and wear your best beanie and Converse high tops.

For a Scene

Tavern on Rush (1031 N Rush St.): Whether seated on the patio of tucked away upstairs inside a booth, you can’t go wrong with this Gold Coast option. On a cold winter day, the tomato soup will hit the spot and may you see a celebrity (A to Z list) or two.

For a Damn Good Turkey Ruben

Frances (2552 N Clark St.): So your friends are walking aimlessly around Lincoln Park, observing the natural wildlife (i.e. college kids and Wasps) and your stomachs are growling. Do not pass go, do not stop, do not collect $200 and head straight to this deli. The ambiance is perfect for those looking to loiter.

For a Feeling of Comfort

Eleven City Diner (1112 S Wabash Ave.): Missing home? No more at Eleven City Diner. Matzo ball soup, potato pancakes and the large selection of sandwiches and salads are all at the top of our list when we’re feeling blue – or are just really, really hungry. Definitely worth the trek to the South Loop any day of the week.

For a Go-To Spot

Hub 51 (51 W Hubbard St.): Looking to laugh, and laugh, and laugh and laugh and loiter some more? Hub 51 seems to cultivate the perfect brunch for this setting. There is always a table available – in a good way! – and plenty on the menu to choose from. Obviously, get the breakfast nachos and if you’re up for it, feel free to booze. You won’t regret it if you do. P.S. Firecakes is across the street from this River North restaurant and is the perfect ‘nightcap’ to any brunch affair.

Thanks for letting me host today. Bon Appétit!

Marissa
