A Few of My Favorite Things

When I got this dress in my most recent Rent the Runway Unlimited subscription, I couldn’t help but wonder…would Carrie Bradshaw use Rent the Runway in 2019? There’s a chance, considering there’s no way she could keep affording all of the designer items she liked to shop!

I had to make mention of the fictional character when wearing this newspaper dress. I mean, the designer – Miaou – certainly isn’t shy about where the inspiration for the garment came from. It says right on the site that the dress is “serving Sex and the City.” I planned to wear it to one of my birthday events but none of them ended up to be quite the right ones. A friend still helped me out and took photos of me in it on my birthday though, because it was too good not to wear – even if it was just walking up and down a street.

The dress isn’t the only thing I’ve been loving lately. This is a lifestyle blog by a lover of life’s little things, and I truly have been excited by several little things that I just had to share. Take a look at what’s made me smile recently:

I cannot remember the last time I purchased something on “final sale,” but when I came across these sandals during the J.Crew Factory July 4 sale I took my chance. They were 60% off – and I’ve seen them on sale for even more since! I really am liking yellow as of late, despite previously thinking it didn’t go with my complexion, and it’s been a while since I treated myself to new heels. When the shoes arrived, I breathed a sigh of relief that they were true to size. They’re also hella adorable.

Cafe Ba-Ba-Reeba! is a Chicago staple. My girlfriends and I have been going there for tapas for years. When one of these friends came from the burbs to celebrate my birthday, she offered to treat me to dinner there and I jumped at the chance. Our favorite things to order are the sangria, bacon wrapped dates, goat cheese and garlic bread, spicy potatoes, and ham and chicken croquettes. Oh, and I happened to know a server on staff and he surprised me with a birthday treat. Definitely glad we chose to go there!

The Gown: A Novel of the Royal Wedding by Jennifer Robson

I’m a really light sleeper, but I FINALLY had a good sleep the other night (according to my Fitbit) and I think I have to give some credit to David’s Tea “Mother’s Little Helper.” I went into the store for loose leaf tea to help cut down on trash from my drinks (baby steps) and they helped me find this bedtime variety. Worked like a charm. ☕️ Also, if you like the royal family and/or WW2 historical fiction, I recommend this book about the embroiders behind the royals’ intricate clothes. “Bookmark” it.

Baller earrings by Uncommon James

I’ve been thinking about the Uncommon James “Baller” earrings since Kristin Cavallari wore them on her E! reality show. I looked them up on the Uncommon James website immediately and quickly deemed them too expensive. Still, I couldn’t help thinking of them and visiting the site and stalking her wearing them on social media. So, when Steve’s parents asked for an idea of what to get me for my birthday, he knew what to tell them. I wore them out for my birthday celebration and felt so special! Nearly grazing my shoulders, they’re definitely a lot, but that’s just the way I like my earrings.

No surprise here, but I have new favorite Mojo Spa products. 💛 This body scrub has been perfect for my faux tanning prep, and the Hello Bright moisturizer is just light enough for hot summer days. Mojo has a bunch of new scrubs in their Wicker Park store, as well, and sent me home with a yummy smelling pineapple one that I can’t wait to try.🍍Aren’t beauty products fun?!
