DIY Coasters

IMG_1414

I have so much fun doing DIY projects with my mom and I had to share this one with you. We transformed floor tiles from Home Depot into cute home accessories. My mom purchased monogram decals from Simply Said Designs so we could make coasters. You could certainly use your own decals or ones you create yourself on contact paper. The rest of the materials we needed include four tiles and vinyl bumpers (purchased at Home Depot), a ruler, and a credit card for application. Depending on the decal you choose, your instructions will vary, but the steps will be similar. After you clean your tile surface,

  1. Rub the decal off of its backing (this is what we used the credit card for).
  2. Measure where you want to place your detail on your tile, and mark it with a pencil. Lay the decal down slowly, smoothing as you go. Rub decal with a credit card using long swipes away from you to get out any air bubbles.
  3. Turn the tile over to a put the bumper on the underneath.

Finished! Now make yourself a cup of tea and enjoy your new home goods.
