Watch Your Back

Sincerely-Jennie-Herschel-Backpack

As I’ve mentioned briefly, I’ve been having troubles with my back lately. Actually, I’ve been having this pain for the past several years, but I only recently tried to do something about it. I started physical therapy and took a look at my lifestyle to figure out what else I could do to improve the pain.

I know it’s not really sexy to talk about back pain, especially not in your 20s, but the more people I mentioned my issue to, the more I realized a lot of my peers also have these aches. Perhaps it’s a culmination of our desks jobs, texting addiction and time spent in the car that has us all feeling years older than we actually are.

There are many things I personally need to do to get better. Most of it isn’t going to improve the pain overnight, but I knew there was one change I should make right away. This fall I purchased a backpack for my daily commute. Now instead of complaining about a heavy laptop pulling across my body, everything feels light on my back. I also follow Athletico’s tips for backpack safety so that I know it’s ergonomically correct. (Yeah, I’m that girl, and no the photos below are not correct.)

I shopped for a Herschel backpack because the company offers so many different styles. I actually had a hard time deciding between many of the backpacks, and included some of my favorite for you to shop below. It’s been a great improvement going to and from work and all of my activities. It’s a relief to know that I could make one change to feel better right away, and hopefully the rest will follow soon!

Herschel backpack (this size is most similar to mine) | Old Navy – chambray boyfriend shirt | J.Crew – my favorite Gigi pants | Forever 21 – similar blush moto jacket (under $20!) | similar over the knee boots
