Vegas – Not Just Clubs

Vegas Week continues. Cosmopolitan’s “Just the right amount of wrong” tagline has helped Vegas become known to 20-somethings for its wild nightclubs and party atmosphere. And while it does embody that, there’s plenty to do if clubbing each night isn’t for you. (Including touring Vegas hotels, like little old me did in 2011.)

More to Vegas Than Clubbing

  1. Go to brunch. If you choose a boozy brunch you might leave feeling as if you went clubbing, but you actually heard each other over drinks and your feet aren’t aching.
  2. Go shopping. Vegas has a mix of shops from high-end designers to affordable retailers. Give yourself a budget to leave Sin City with souvenirs you won’t regret.
  3. Visit other hotels. Each hotel has its own theme and its own draw. For the MGM it’s live lions, New York, New York offers a roller coaster and the Bellagio boasts a conservatory and botanical garden. It’s worth it to take several hours and hotel hop.
  4. Go to a male review. Are you a fan of Magic Mike? Vegas has the real thing. I suggest Thunder From Down Under.
  5. Go to Old Vegas. That’s where you can get your photo with the famous “Vegas” sign, zip line and see great street performers.
  6. See the Fountains of Bellagio. This enormous water show is set to beautiful music and is simply romantic.
  7. Go to a Cirque Show. There are so many musical options in Vegas, and you can get discounted tickets at many locations. Just ask your concierge.
  8. Sing along with Britney. If you’re a 20-something in Vegas, you gotta go see Britney Spears. Bonus points if you dress like your favorite Britney to see this nostalgic, over the top show.
  9. Go to a pool party.  Ok, so it’s kind of a club, but outside during the day. And you get to cool off in a pool.
  10. Visit the Rent the Runway store. Rent the Runway only has a few brick-and-mortar stores in the U.S., and Vegas is home to one of them. Stop in if you want one extra dress option for the weekend.
  11. Eat at Serendipity. Skip the empty calories from booze and instead indulge in one of Serendipity 3‘s frozen treats. Totally worth it.
  12. Pamper yourself. With all the late nights, why don’t you take some time during the day for yourself.  My friends have found less expensive salon options off of The Strip, or splurge on a hotel spa.
  13. Gamble. I mean, duh, right?
  14. Have a room dance party. One of my most fun memories was when my girlfriends and I cranked the music in our suite and danced on top of the counters. You don’t have to go to a club to party!
  15. Sight-see The Strip with an open container. Because it’s illegal almost everywhere else.
  16. Drink at an ice bar. Visit Minus 5° Ice Bar to have a drink unlike any other. You don’t have to worry what to wear underneath those oversized coats, and it makes for great photos.
  17. Read by the pool. It might sound totally lame, but relaxing during the day helps me reset for the night.
  18. Go to a museum. These are your mom’s museums.
  19. Get out of town. With the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon both nearby, it’s been on my list to one year take an extra day trip out to see one.
  20. Do a crazy workout. Instead of paying to access your hotel fitness studio, do something out of the ordinary with one of the many unique fitness classes offered in the city.
