“Spring” Style in Chicago

Spring Trench CoatWhat do you do when it’s April and there’s snow in the forecast? A lot of things to trick yourself that’s not the case, and to remind yourself what you have to look forward to. For me, I bring spring inside. I pick up fresh flowers for the house. I also try to remind myself of some of my favorite spring clothes in my closet. I wear open toe shoes, but layer up top with a spring trench coat. I pull out spring skirts to pair with tights or wear bare-legged with a sweater. These are just a few ways I try to make spring come early (okay, not even early!) when Mother Nature won’t.

Spring Trench Coat

I’m not going to harp on the weather too much. For one, this doesn’t surprise anyone who’s from the Midwest. I remember springs when I was a child and we had our Easter egg hunts in snow! Second, I’ll be escaping it soon. This summer I’m traveling to Charleston for my bachelorette party! It’ll be my first time in the city and I can’t wait to explore. I’ll post more later this week about what we plan to do and pack.

By the way, this suede layering piece, which I’ve now determined is my spring trench coat, has been a staple in my closet since last fall. Want to see how else I styled this vest? Check out my posts:

How’s the weather where you are? Are you still waiting for spring? Or are you enjoying fresh blooms outdoors already? I hope it’s the latter! I’m really jealous of all the ladies I see on Instagram rocking their spring dresses sans coat. We’ll get there soon, Chicago.

I am so with you on trying to feel like spring is here early! I live in Germany right now and although we’ve had good weather lately, you never know when chilly temps can strike back. I’ve been wearing a bunch of florals and a light trench coat lately.
This suede vest you have is the perfect transition item!

No spring sunny weather here yet in Rhode Island! It’s been pouring for the last week though, so flowers better start sprouting soon! I love that suede vest. It’s the perfect color for you too!
