I know all eyes are on fall, but NYFW has me thinking about spring again – and getting excited for florals! I feel like I gravitate toward the same designers’ collections every year, and this year was no exception. I love the femininity and lightness to J. Mendel’s collection (plus the setting looked heavenly). Diana von Furstenberg continues to be a favorite designer who makes me excited to be a powerful woman, and Christina Siriano also does that for me! Not only are these designers inspiring, they’re also accessible. That’s important to me because I don’t consider myself very high fashion, just a lover of clothes, fabrics and cuts that speak to me! I recently came across Laura Hutton’s quote “Fashion is what you’re offered four times a year by a designer, style is what you choose,” and I don’t think it could be have been said any better.
In honor of NYFW Spring 2018, I thought it was the perfect time to share some photos I recently snapped before Sarah’s bachelorette party. Her party was rosé themed and the Crowning Event floral crown was actually her gift for the night (thankfully I knew she’d understand if I borrowed it ?). I received the dress through my Rent the Runway Unlimited subscription. RTR is another great way to get accessible high fashion, and play with styles you might not otherwise choose! You may have noticed I don’t typically wear flowy outfits – I like waist-defining styles for my body type – but this dress was too good for the night’s theme to pass up when I found it on the RTR site.
So yes, soon I’ll be moving into over the knee boots and jackets, but before I did I had to pay some homage to Spring 2018. I know what you might be thinking: “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” But hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it.
By the way, this is one of my fav fall nail colors: OPI’s Miami Beet
