Custom Hair Products

I was recently on a mission to find shampoo and conditioner that could breathe new life into my hair. I’d been using a drugstore brand and was fed up with my hair not feeling clean at the roots, yet dry at the ends. As I was scouting for products to make the switch, I never thought to look for a create-your-own subscription shampoo and conditioner. In fact, I didn’t even know that service existed until the company Latherology connected with me. I worked with them to create custom-mixed hair products that gave me everything I was missing from my other products. And, they’re some of the best smelling hair products I’ve used (if I do say so myself).

The Product

A Latherology subscription allows customers to create hair products at an affordable price that fit their needs. My interest was piqued when I heard that the products are non-toxic and sulfate-free, among many other great attributes. They are made from 100% essential oils, which is the customizable part. To begin my subscription, I visited their website and read through all of the oil choices and the benefits of each. I also imagined which oils I’d like to smell on my hair! I ended up choosing grapefruit essential oil for shine, eucalyptus essential oil for growth and soothing, and jojoba carrier oil to repair hair.

The Wash

The shampoo and conditioner arrived in my mail just a few days later. The package was so cute, it felt like I was opening a mini spa day! I was surprised to see that the bottles are smaller than you might buy at a drugstore (they’re 4-6 oz), but that’s because you want to finish the product when the essential oils are still their freshest.

Now that I had created the Latherology shampoo and conditioner, my next test with the products would be actually using them, of course. I went into the shower a little doubtful that essential oils would help get my hair fully clean, but two days later my doubts were erased. My hair was still clean and extremely soft! Much better than my old brand was doing.
