Crowning Event

It seems like Mondays are starting to have a floral theme. (Remember my DIY bouquets last week?) These photos are from last weekend’s Crowning Event with Allie. I met Allie at a Bitches Who Brunch event last spring (she’s the Chicago editor-in-chief) and have kept up with her on social media since. Lately I started seeing her rocking the most adorable flower crowns, and I was amazed to learn she is making them through her own business, Crowning Event. She offers workshops so others can learn how to make their own crowns, so I signed up immediately with my friend (and former blog partner) Amanda!

Crowning Event was so.much.fun. I’ve been a crafty person since I was a kid but now with so many you know, adult responsibilities, I don’t always find time to make things with my hands. This class with Allie reminded me how relaxing it can be to do so. Bonus, we were at the cutest little coffee shop with a plateful of gooey chocolate chip cookies made by the owner.

Allie began the class by giving us a brief history on flower crowns, which I found interesting. And not to toot my own horn, but I answered her question about when flower crowns first became a thing in history. (Do you know?) She then showed us the technique and let us loose to choose our own flowers. I thought I wanted something relatively simple, but as I worked it was hard to keep it understated. Every flower was so beautiful, I wanted them all!

I was so happy with how my flower crown turned out! And it was even more satisfying to have shared it with a good friend over a cup of coffee. I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for future Crowning Event classes, and you should too. Follow the business on Instagram for upcoming workshops and discounts. Then, go and become a real life Snapchat filter.
