Sincerely Reading

Sincerely Reading is a reoccurring feature on the blog. When it’s not one of my book recommendations, it will be a friend’s. This week it’s from Amanda, my former blog partner.

The Good Girl Review

TitleThe Good Girl by Mary Kubica

Summary: One night, Mia Dennett enters a bar to meet her on-again, off-again boyfriend. But when he doesn’t show, she unwisely leaves with an enigmatic stranger. At first Colin Thatcher seems like a safe one-night stand. But following Colin home will turn out to be the worst mistake of Mia’s life. When Colin decides to hide Mia in a secluded cabin in rural Minnesota instead of delivering her to his employers, Mia’s mother, Eve, and detective Gabe Hoffman will stop at nothing to find them. But no one could have predicted the emotional entanglements that eventually cause this family’s world to shatter.  (via Amazon)

On a Scale of “Don’t Bother” to “Couldn’t Put Down”: Couldn’t put down – I even found myself trying to sneak in time to read while I was on  a Parisian vacation with my boyfriend!

Why? It’s suspenseful, well-written, and had me on the edge of my seat all the way through the bombshell ending. I devour thriller/mysteries by the dozens, but even I didn’t see the end coming.

If someone likes ________, they’d like this book: Gone Girl or any of Liane Moriarty’s books. It’s a mystery with more than one narrator similar to both books – I actually stumbled upon this book through one of Amazon’s “Customers who bought this item also bought…” recommendations.

When would be the best time to read this book? Summer at the pool! I couldn’t put it down, and you’ll be done in time for the release of Mary Kubica’s next book at the end of July.

Drop me a note if you’d like to review a book in an upcoming post. You can find more of my book recommendations on my Goodreads page. Follow along!
